Precautions for choosing safe plastic toys

Oct 15, 2021

One depends on the gloss and color vividness of the toy

High-quality plastic toys perform much better than inferior toys in gloss and color vividness. This is because high-quality plastic toys are usually made of PVC, PP, PE and other plastic raw materials, and the plastic itself is very shiny. Many inferior toys are usually made of "secondary materials" (that is, materials that are recycled and reprocessed from waste plastic products), and the color becomes worse after reprocessing. Although it is not necessarily guaranteed that the color is good, it is safe, but the products with poor gloss and poor color are all products with potential safety hazards.

Second, it depends on the thickness of the toy product

The biggest feature of plastic toys is that the finished products or parts are injection-molded at one time. If the inner wall of the injection-molded toy is too thin, it is easy to break and fall when children play, and the plastic parts will fragile and produce small fragments, sharp edges, and corners. Danger to the baby. In general, the corners or arcs of the plastic wall are thicker than other places, which increases the damage tolerance of the toy when it falls to the ground and reduces the degree of damage.

Three depends on the 3C certification and label description of the toy

3C certification is the abbreviation for China Compulsory Product Certification. The state stipulates that plastic toys must pass the national compulsory product certification, that is, have the "CCC" mark. If there is no 3C certification on the product packaging, it means that the product is a fake and inferior product. However, the 3C mark is not a quality mark, but a basic safety certification, which can only prove that the product is qualified, but not that the product has excellent performance. In addition, check labels and identifications such as manufacturer, place of origin, main material composition, warning slogans, and product qualification certificates.

Fourth, we must smell the smell of plastic toys

The German Consumer Protection Center pointed out that if some children's toys have a pungent smell, they should contain harmful substances, such as phthalate plasticizers. Therefore, it is recommended that everyone smell the smell when buying toys. Some experts suggest that you can wash the toys and air them first, so as to evaporate the smell of the plastic as much as possible, and reduce the peeling paint and the heavy metal content in it. If the plastic toy is marked with a high temperature that can withstand it, you can also boil the toy before using it.

Fifth, try plastic toys

For safety reasons, when parents buy toys, it is recommended to try them carefully to see if there are any safety hazards and whether they are suitable for use by babies. During the trial, you can shake the toy to see if the various parts are firm and whether there are small parts; or pull the toys with ropes to see if the length is appropriate; when choosing a sounding toy, try to see if its sound is too loud . It is best to touch the edges and corners of the toy to see if there are sharp objects, so as not to scratch the baby.
